After watching Sen. Norm Colman on the Charlie Rose show last night, I feel very concerned with what looks like an assault, and payback, on the United Nations and Kofi Annan.
I realize the Oil for Food Program is a scandal and needs to be investigated; it is good that Volker's committee is investigating. But it seems to me that between the lines there is an aggressive assault on a vital International body with the intention of destabilizing and undermining authority. Norm Colman is calling for Kofi Annan's resignation.
Volker says it's not appropriate for Congress to think that the United Nations, an international organization, should turn over its internal documents to them. That makes sense to me. Should the UN turn its internal documents over to other countries?
Does congress have the big head or what.
Is this part of Bush spending his political capital?
(GWB seems to be all about `do-overs' and paybacks. I wish he had one `new' or creative idea that did not have a dark side. )
A question: did Colman take the seat of the Democratic senator who died in the plane crash? (Whose name I cannot remember; duh sorry.) If so, he rose to power very quickly getting the chairmanship of a senate committee.
